Luxury Cruising vs Family Cruising: Two Completely Different Animals

Luxury cruising and family cruising exist in parallel universes. They happen on water. They involve ships. That’s where the similarities end.

Luxury cruising means Regent Seven Seas or Silversea. Your suite has a marble bathroom bigger than most cruise cabin bedrooms. The champagne flows freely because it’s included. So is the caviar. The loudest noise you’ll hear is someone quietly discussing wine pairings at dinner.

Family cruising means Royal Caribbean or Norwegian. Your kids are launching themselves down waterslides while you hunt for deck chairs. The pizza is free but everything else costs extra. The loudest noise is 200 children screaming with joy on the pool deck at 9 AM.

Both have their place. If you want white glove service and prefer your vacation without anyone under 18, luxury delivers. If you want your teenager to actually enjoy family time instead of sulking about missing their friends, the big ships with rock climbing walls win.

The price difference is not subtle. Luxury cruising runs $500 to $1500 per person per day. Family cruising runs $75 to $200 per person per day before you buy drinks and specialty dining. Your wallet will know which category you chose.

Neither style is better than the other. They solve completely different problems. If you want help sorting this out, that is literally what we do.

Fair winds and following seas,
Captain Steve
