Oceania Cruises Just Made Itself Adults Only

Oceania Cruises is done with kids. As of January 7, 2026, the line only takes new bookings for guests 18 and older. That applies across all eight ships.

If you booked before that date with someone under 18, you are fine. Those reservations still stand. But every new booking is adults only from here on.

Oceania says this is what its guests wanted. A quieter ship. A more grown-up room. I believe them. This was never a line for water slides and kids clubs anyway. Now it is official.

Here is who Oceania is. Small ships, around 1,200 guests each. That is a fraction of the megaships. The newest one, Allura, launched in 2025 with twelve restaurants on board. Food is the whole personality. They call themselves The Finest Cuisine at Sea and they actually mean it.

The itineraries lean toward longer stays and smaller ports. This is a line for people who want to see a place, not just wave at it from the top deck. You will find a lot of North American retirees on board. You will not find a foam party.

Now the honest part. Oceania is not truly all inclusive the way Regent is. Drinks and some extras still cost more. The pricing sits in an odd middle spot between premium and luxury, which confuses people. And the adults only shift means if you travel with grandkids, this line just closed the door.

So who is it for. Couples. Solo travelers who like calm. Anyone who plans a vacation around dinner reservations rather than pool chairs. If that is you, Oceania got more appealing this year, not less.

Who should skip it. Multigenerational families. Anyone bringing a teenager. Anyone whose idea of a good sea day involves a rock climbing wall.

The food really is the reason to go. Everything else is supporting cast. Very good supporting cast, but the kitchen is the star.
