Cruise News Roundup

Royal Caribbean pulled their newest ship out of the Caribbean for winter repairs. Icon of the Seas will skip several scheduled sailings in January to fix technical issues with her pool deck systems. Passengers on affected cruises get full refunds plus future cruise credits.

This is what happens when you rush a ship into service. Icon launched with great fanfare but has dealt with mechanical hiccups since day one. The good news is Royal Caribbean is fixing problems instead of letting them fester. The bad news is if you booked one of these sailings, your vacation just got postponed.

Norwegian announced they are permanently pulling out of Tunisia and Morocco for 2025. Political instability and port infrastructure concerns drove the decision. Ships scheduled for these ports will pivot to more traditional Mediterranean stops like Barcelona and Rome.

Tunisia was never a must-see destination for most cruisers anyway. Norwegian is playing it safe rather than dealing with potential passenger safety issues or last-minute itinerary changes. Your Mediterranean cruise will still happen. It just might have more familiar ports than exotic ones.

Carnival revealed their newest ship will feature the largest water park at sea. Carnival Jubilee’s replacement, coming in 2026, will have slides that dwarf anything currently floating. The ship will also debut Carnival’s first ever adults-only sun deck.

Cruise lines keep building bigger attractions because passengers keep demanding them. If you want a floating amusement park, this trend works in your favor. If you prefer quieter ships with more intimate settings, book older vessels while you still can.

These stories remind us that cruise planning involves more variables than most people realize. Ships break down. Itineraries change. New features get added. If you want help sorting this out, that is literally what we do.
